
Serena Jameka Williams (born September 26, 1981) is a professional American tennis player. She has been ranked number 1 by the Women’s Tennis Association eight times. In 2000 she won her first of 4 Olympic gold medals in the women’s doubles event with her sister, Venus. In 2012 Williams won Olympic gold again, this time in women’s singles. This is an all-time record shared with her sister.
To date, Williams has won 22 singles and 14 doubles titles in Grand Slam events. She is arguably the greatest women’s tennis player in history.
